Kathy Kahng

for Putnam County Legislator, District 3

My name is Kathy Kahng and I'm running for Putnam County Legislator, District 3 (Kent/Patterson).

What’s more important than our KIDS, our WATER, and our TAXES?

I want to be your advocate!

Kathy Kahng is a small business owner, an environmental steward and a community leader working to improve your quality of life in Putnam County

Putnam County is stagnant! I have a positive vision to help us thrive:

  • A Plan for Workforce Development, to invest in our young people’s future

  • A Plan for Economic Development, to balance our tax burdens

  • A Plan for Proactive Environmental Stewardship, to protect our water and green spaces

Kathy Kahng: Business & Community Leadership

  • Small business owner since 2000 - CityRax, Inc. supports Business Improvement Districts in cities, municipalities, and transit agencies

  • Financial oversight for companies ranging from $1 million to $100 million in annual revenue

  • Active Community Leadership:

    • Founding President, The Friends of Reed Memorial Library, opening Reed Community Hub 10/1

    • Advisor, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley

    • Chair, Town of Kent Stormwater (2016-2020)

    • Lake Chair/Board Member, Hill & Dale Property/Home Owners Association

    • Trustee, Putnam County Land Trust

    • Member, Kent Carmel Chamber of Commerce

    • Member, Town of Kent Climate Smart Task Force

Known as a Get Stuff Done person, I will work even harder as a legislator for Kent and Patterson to cut through bureaucracy and produce results for you!

I will focus on:

  • Clean drinking water and the health threat caused by PFAS (forever chemicals) in our groundwater

  • Proactively pushing high efficiency septic systems to keep our water bodies, groundwater and NYC watershed clean

  • Work more closely with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to more proactively manage issues like PFAS and high efficiency septic that vastly impact our drinking water and the NYC watershed  43% of the Town of Kent is owned by NYC DEP or NYS DEC.

  • Work with all six towns in Putnam County to apply for NY Forward Downtown Revitalization Initiative grants to turnaround and supercharge our ailing downtown corridors and commercial strips.  We can bring more necessary and useful services and retailers to our local communities.

As you can see, I have a proven track record of accomplishment in Kent and Putnam County working with volunteer groups.  My professional experience working with both public and private sector organizations is highly adaptable to working for you in the Putnam County Legislature.

Please vote for me on November 3!
